Hubby and I decided to go on a weekend trip.
We started out at by stopping in Vinita Oklahoma at Clanton's Diner, this was on Guy's "Diners, Drive'ins and Dives". We had open faced roastbeef sandwiches with gravy and mashed potatoes - it was wonderful! Tender as all get out. Then I had a slice of homemade chocolate pie, hubby had coconut, yummmm GREAT - if you are ever in the area you have to stop.
We proceeded to Grove OK, I had been thinking about buying some property there for a little retirement place. NO WAY would I live there - you hear the stories about all the Arkansas people having cars in the yards and junk all over - well that is Grove - of course it is mixed with some very expensive beautiful homes. My thoughts of moving there have gone.
On to Tulsa for a visit to the Aquarium in Jenks OK. It was very nice, with lots of different sea life including sharks. They are redoing some of it, but it is really nice. We did try to find the new Ted's Cafe in Tulsa but could not. So - no Ted's this trip. Didn't really feel like driving to Edmond for one Mexican meal.
We then went to a antiques store and I (of course) had to visit the local scrapbook store. Didn't find anything I couldn't live without.
So then it was on to Stillwater - we have never seen the OSU campus. It is HUGE, the new stadium is state of the art, and they are building like crazy.
All the buildings are Colonial in style - reminded me of William and Marys in Willimsburg VA.
We didn't realize that we came on the weekend that all the parents are here moving their kids in for the new school year. Because of that we didn't go to Eskimo Joe's - we figured it would be full of college students seeing old friends.
We ate a a wonderful Italian restaurant. Then for breakfast the next morning we ate at Parnea Bread (wonderful Quiche), then it was back home to Wichita.
