It appears things are a lot worse off for Caroline then we thought. Because of her previous health problems: kidneys, lungs, heart and diabetes they can not operate on her back.
Her kidneys are not functionally properly. She has not woke up nor been responsive to commands. She can not breathe by herself.
Her husband, son and daughter have been asked to make a decision between these three:
1. Do all that is possible, but do not start her heart again if it stops.
(Because if they have to use compressions it would be right where her back is broken and would cause brain damage.)
2. Do comfort care. Make her as comfortable as possible and let nature take it's course.
3. Remove the oxygen and let nature take it's course.
This will be the hardess decision they will ever make. My parents and I are devastated. We know Caroline would not want to go on dailysis as she told us that the last time she was sick. We know she would not want to live the rest of her live paralyzed (as she is now). She wanted to just die the last time she was sick, she said she was ready to go (then).
My father said he knows she would not want to live like this, but he could not possibly make a decision. Nor could my mom and I. I know whatever Jim, Jimmie and Anna decide to do will be right. Please pray for them all.
Thank you. Sandy
